Making Disciples - Transforming the World

Missions

Below are brief descriptions of organizations we support and ways to participate:

Alternative Gifts is set-up during each Sunday of the Advent season in December. For someone on your Christmas list who may be hard to buy for, we offer alternative gifts to support the following organizations: Community CARES, The Gideons International, Mountains of Hope for Haiti, Heifer International, and many others.

Capital Area Pregnancy Center, located in Camp Hill, holds fundraisers throughout the year to sustain their yearly budget as a non-profit organization. The Baby Bottle Blast runs Mother’s Day thru Father’s Day where MUMC hands out baby bottles to the congregation to fill with coins, bills, or checks. Walk4Life is held in early Autumn where MUMC has walkers join the event and collect monetary donations. Baby clothing, blankets, and baby equipment are also donated throughout the year.

Community CARES, located in Carlisle, serves and strengthens the community by providing emergency shelter, resources, and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. During the year, the first Saturday of each month, a group from MUMC gathers at CARES to serve breakfast for the residents. Donations of food and urgent items are also collected throughout the month.

The Gideons International, Mission Central, Project SHARE, and Truck Stop Ministry are organizations MUMC also supports on a monthly basis.

Through our mission areas above, we have Mission Bridge Builders that oversee and have a heart for the mission they are representing. They keep the congregation informed of any needs that arise and share stories of ways donations are making a difference.

My Gift to Jesus is an offering that is collected during our Christmas Eve services. Through this special offering, we are able to provide gas cards, food bags, clothing and shoes for elementary students, and everything in between. We are so thankful for the generosity of our congregation that allows us to be a tangible light for those in need within our local community.
