Making Disciples - Transforming the World

Worship FAQOurs is a welcoming, growing congregation with a great mix of ages and backgrounds. No matter where you're from or who you are, you're sure to find a place here.
People like to know what they're getting into before visiting a new church, so we thought answering some common questions might help make newcomers feel comfortable. Read on!
What can I expect on Sunday morning?
Our worship service is a blend of contemporary music led by our praise band and traditional music led by our organist. A typical service at MUMC includes a brief message for small children in attendance, and the use of multimedia visual aids to help further illuminate the message. Our Adult and children's choir sing about once a month, and the sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
Are babies and toddlers welcome?
Absolutely! Nursery care is lovingly provided downstairs for small children age 0-2, and all our nursery workers undergo special training and a background check. But you're more than welcome to keep the little ones with you in the pew. There is a small crying room at the back of the sanctuary for babies and toddlers (and nursing mothers), complete with a changing table, restroom, rocking chairs and some toys.
What about older children?
Worship for school-aged children begins in the sanctuary and, children through fifth grade are then dismissed from the worship service attend class — a time of fun, crafts, games, lessons and other activities downstairs. That special time together is focused on teaching Christian principles, Bible stories, and fundamentals for their young lives. Blessing bags filled with coloring activities and stickers also are located at the back of the sanctuary for kids of all ages to use in the sanctuary during the service.
Do you have Sunday School classes?
Yes, there is a Sunday school class for adults. Friends & Followers Sunday School Meets at 9:00 am (September thru May). There are NO Sunday School classes for children at this time. What should I wear to church?
An open heart and a smile! If you're worried about your attire, don't be. You'll see everything from the casual jeans and T-shirt crowd to those wearing their Sunday best. All are welcome!
What else do I need to know?
Please be sure to stop by the Connection Point Center in the Gathering Area to pick up your free loaf of bread and Welcome Bag as our way of saying thank you for visiting us today! You can also enjoy some beverages (including hot coffee!) at our Hospitality Center located in the Gathering Area.
